I wouldn't take the step of having the ISP remove the delegation. I'm saying
it should be investigated to see if it is causing this. This can be done
without using trial and error, and if you have your ISP remove the
delegation and it doesn't work, they may be a little upset if you want them
to re-create it. Reverse lookup delegations take time to create and it
should not be taken lightly to remove them only temporarily.

The purpose of the trailing dot is to make a DNS name fully qualified. A DNS
name is not fully qualified unless it contains all domain levels, including
the root, which is the dot.
The reason for adding the dot to queries is to tell the DNS server to start
looking in the root domain for the name. If you don't add the dot to
nslookup queries, nslookup will start by appending suffixes to find the name
you are looking for. This is an nslookup and DNS client service behavior.
Some applications, such as Dig and Netdig, don't append suffixes and will
treat all names as fully qualified by always starting resolution at the root
level. This behavior, prevents these applications from resolving host names
only.
Nslookup on the other hand tries to mimic the DNS client service behavior
and is better suited for most users who don't understand what a FQDN is.
