DNS across domains

Hi
I have a Win2003 server (DNS/WINS/DHCP/AD) in one location & a Win2000
server (DNS/WINS/DHCP/AD) in another location. These are connected via
a SonicWALL VPN and I have today attempted to create a domain trust.
Firstly I added each others DNS servers as a secondary zone which
seemed to work becuase DNS populated with the other domains machines. I
then created a trust after about 30 mins but strangley I can only ping
certain machines by the name rather than IP address & only in 1
direction. I could only achieve this after adding the opposing Wins
server to each server, so it would appear that DNS is not working
correctly. This should work regardless of the trust I created so I am
failry confused why it doesnt.

Any ideas appreciated..
Cheers
