Hi All
We are coming over to Server 2003. The question here is should we when
we create the domain create a mydomain.local or the FQDN mydomain.no
The network will have a Linux FC4 gateway server (2 nic's - 1 public
add, 1 local 10.0.0.0) hosting Apache, FTP, DHCP, secondary DNS and
Samba also running a tight IPtables firewall. The 2003 server will be
the PDC, Exchange 2003, Primary DNS and windows shares.
The Primary DNS (MX & A records) is held by the domain registrar and I
have no plans to move them, so the local DNS is really for the local
domain.
WWW, FTP, OWA, smtp, pop, imap are the only public resourses
mydomain.no a FQDN points to the address of the public NIC on the FC4
Box
should the local domain be.
mydomain.no or
mydomain.local or
mydomain.no.local
we are just putting all this together and playing and testing so we can
make changes now without any real pain as there are no users on the
system just us testing. At present the local domain is mydomain.no, if
it is advisable to change this we would like to do it now rather than
later when the users are on the system.
Thanks in advance for any help
