Running SBS 2003 Standard.
I've got a reverse lookup entry (200.140.62.in-addr.arpa) that won't
delete. It appeared out of nowhere and doesn't relate to anything on
the network or anything else I know about.
I tried to delete it from dnsmgmt but it come up with the error:
"The zone cannot be deleted. The active directory service is not
available."
I also tried to delete it from 'Active Directory Users and Computers'
but ended up with a
"The object 200.140.62.in-addr.arpa (or some objects it contains)
cannot be deleted because: The directory service encountered and
unknown failure."
error message.
ipconfig /all doesn't mention the address
I'm also getting hundreds of DNS 4004 and 4015 error messages in the
log relating to this address.
