I would like to mention that EDNS0 is an RFC industry implementation and not
just a "Microsoft" implementation just in case the poster (hamm3r) or anyone
else reading this thread is quick to think or believes it is.

Microsoft decided to use the new implementation and take advantage of it due
to it helping to increase name resolution efficiency. It's just that older
routers and/or firewalls if not updated may not support it until they are
updated. Maybe this may be a good reason to update them anyway.

After all, Microsoft was one of the first few companies (if any at the time
of the new RFC) to use the SRV implementation when they rolled out Active
Directory.
