In DNS, under DNS > HostName > Forward Lookup Zones, right-click and select
"New Host (A)...". In the name field, type www, in the IP addresses filed
type the LAN IP of the server. NNo need to check the box "Create associated
pointer..." for right now. Then click the Add Host button. Repeat for the
host name Sales.
In IIS, under Internet Information Server > HostName > Web Sites,
right-click on the properties of the web site (you should not be using the
Defualt Web Site) and select properties. Under the Web Site tab click the
Advanced button. In the next window, click the Add buttonm leave the IP
address set to (All Unassigned), in TCP port enter 80 and for host header
value enter www.domainname.com. Repeat for sales.domainname.com. To get to
sales.domainname.com/sales, you need to create a virtual directory called
sales under the web site main folder.
