dns resolves non existing server

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi,

My DNS zone name is local.mycompany.com.
since mycompany.com is a public domain name,
I use local.mycompany.com for my internal AD domain name.

However whenever I ping a non existing server
it resolves to mycompany.com.

for example:
ping nonexisting.local.mycompany.com

returns the IP for mycompany.com

Any suggestion? THANKS

david
