In the System control panel, on the computer name tab cahnge the name of the
machine to a FQDN by giving it a Primary DNS suffix.
Keep in mind, if you plan on using this DNS to host any public DNS zones, it
is this name that will be used on the SOA record for the Primary name server
name and the first NS record it will create.

That said, as long as you don't mind editing these records for every zone
you add, you don't have to give it a primary DNS suffix. But you have to
make sure this server does not have to resolve its own name.
