Problem solved.

my Goal was to set up a test net with 1 DC 2k3(to be configed) and 1 XP/SP2
WS (existing). Internet connectivity is through Cable ISP DHCP/DNS., be
able to access the internet from both machines and have the WS be a bonafide
member of the Domain.

Server (DC to be) has two identical nics one to cable modem/rtr another to 5
port SW to which of course the WS is also connected.

As my last attempt (4am yesterday) ended in a cluster fornication I started
from scratch and I'm doc'ing each step along the way

Im hoping this thread will also help other NEWBIES to help themselves.

1 Installed hardware and server software (EVAL edition)
2 Ran sp1
3 updated nic drivers
4 ran ipconfig and > to a txt file for future reference
5 Activated windows at MS (verifying Iternet connection OK)
6 Renamed interfaces public and private
7 Made private tcp ip address 192.168.0.1/24 w/dns set to same ip
(AND THAT WAS THE CRITICAL CLUE FROM YOU GUYS THANK YOU)
8 started config my server DC role wiz (worked like a charm)
It saw the private ip and configured RRAS, DNS, DHCP, AD guided me
to name the internal zone .local (which I did)

Everything went smooth as butter this time except I had to 1st join the WS
to the domain with a static IP then reconfigure to use DHCP before it would
access the internet.

AutoMagic I love it....What a difference a day makes.

Maybe I wont have to flip burgers for a living after all.

What came first the Chicken or the Egg? How about twin chickens hatched
together, lived long and prospered ...until KFC showed up. :^)
