Re: Multihomed windows 2003 server DNS problems

Thank you Kevin and Herb, for guiding me through these probs.
I must admit that I'm only a computer user and English is not my native
language, but I can learn things fast. You may ask -"why don't you just
hire a network administrator?" ...well, we got a tight budget and you guys
cost much :)
When it comes to network topology, unfortunately, I can't do much due to
the servers and switch's location. As I said before, we have an optic fiber
line that comes from the ISP and goes to Linux. From Linux to switch and
from the same switch to w2k3 server with one subnet, and from w2k3 to the
same switch again for the workstations with another subnet. I have to use
the same switch for the linux, w2k3 and workstations. I don't think that it
should be a problem as machines are using different subnets. If it is a
serious problem then I'll buy a small switch to put between the Linux and
w2k3 servers.
When I run dcdiag.exe, the w2k3 server passes all tests. And my forward and
reverse lookup zones are fine too.
mydomain.local.
_msdcs.mydomain.local.
reverse lookup zone, 26.168.192.in-addr.arpa. with the PTR
and with secure updates only.
How come when I ping MyServerName I get reply from 192.168.26.1, but not
from 192.168.25.200?

Oh by the way, the guy who set up the Linux server, also made a small
program for all workstations to access internet, and it comes with an INI
file with only Linux's internal ip address 192.168.26.254. The Linux server
also works as a traffic controller which I can access via web to assign
users and limits. This small program still works fine. We had W2000 server
before and everything was working fine until it crushed. But anyway, I
don't think that this is an issue here.

First I will get an additional switch and go from there. Let's see what
happens.
Thanks again for you all. But don't leave me alone pls. I'll be posting my
results
