Craig, besides DNS, which is a foundation for Active Directory, are you
aware of how to leverage the concept of Active Directory sites?
If you don't have any sites defined in AD, every DC in your network is an
equal candidate for domain logons - from any point in the network. Look in
the Active Directory Sites and Services MMC and see if sites have been
defined in Active Directory for the remote locations. If not, then setting
up a site for each location and associating the proper subnets with each
site then moving DCs into the appropriate sites will allow a client to logon
to it's nearest DC.
