    You are right, forwarders can be the solution.
    Your ability to add one is blocked when there is a
    root forward zone (the "." forward zone).
    Just delete this, then refresh the server node, and
    add the ISP's DNS server (not really necessary as
    with the root zone gone, use of root hints becomes
    possible).
    I am however questioning your choices for the
    default gateways you have selected, especially
    if your internal LAN is segmented.
