If you are going to remove the mycompany.com zone you should remove the name
or change it to mycompany.net, for several reasons.
1 If you have any NT4 or Win9x clients you wish to have DHCP register in DNS
for you in the AD zone, this option should have the AD name.
2 If you leave the name it will be assigned to all DHCP clients as the
connection specific suffix and clients that support DDNS will attempt to
register in the zone for that name.
3 This name will also be added to the DNS suffix search list, so it will be
appended to all queries, it will just add network activity search this
suffix.

That is up to you, I am not a big fan of DNS suffix search lists anyway.
Especially, if the domain suffix is not on the local DNS server, these
queries will be sent to the internet and slow resolution.
