You say your event logs don't show any errors?
If it is as you say with your domain name being just "domain" instead of
"domain.com" this should be logging events 5781, unless you have already
modified the registry to allow this. You did not mention modifying the
registry yet, so I am kinda confused. Unless you don't actually have a
single-label domain name as you said.
826743 - Clients cannot dynamically register DNS records in a single-label

If you need further help post back with an ipconfig /all, your AD domain
name from ADUC, and the list of forward lookup zones in DNS.
