Hello Ace
Thanks for you reply, we do not use / did not think that we needed to use
WINS under 2003 ??
The really frustrating thing is that all of the XP Pro machines attached to
the domain appear absolutely fine.
Interestingly enough we were in the office yesterday ( Sat ) setting up a
backup DC, we did little more that put the operating system on, named the
machine and did a DCPROMO - worked fine and downloaded all of the AD ( from
the PDC that did not appear earlier in my post ) etc and that did not appear
either !!!
I dont know if this will help but the backup DC after a few hours of being
used started to issue these messages:
Event ID 8032.
Type Browser.
The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on
transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{FD65145F-ECAC-4E77-A846-33732DC39120}. The
backup browser is stopping.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at h
This seems to point to the same sort of problem ???
Thanks for you help.
