It sounds to me like your AD DNS Domain name is a single-label name. Look in
AD Users & Computers to see if the Domain name is XXXmydomain, if it is
follow this KB to add registry entries to the DC and all clients.
826743 - Clients cannot dynamically register DNS records in a single-label
forward lookup zone:
