We have a Windows network with 2000 and 2003 servers, are hosting websites
on 2003 with a Active directory on 2000, and this morning we came in to
having connectivity problems with the websites. We have NAT on the systems
plus we have external IP addresses on the web server. After lots of
adjusting things, the current state is we can't get to one of the servers
(call it WEB2) from most machines but can from the domain controller (call
it FS). We are having problems with WEB1 sometimes we can get to from the
outside and from one of two IP addresses from the inside, but they we can't.
We can access the network from WEB2, but not vice versa. We can access WEB1
from some machines on the network, but not all. It has multiple IP
addresses and we can only access via its default address. We can access the
websites on WEB1 from the outside world (but not always.)
Both web servers have gotten or are getting NetBT 4321 "The Name 'XXXXX
:1d' could not be registered on the Interface with the IP address
192.168.0.xxx. The machine with the IP address 192.168.0.yyy did not allow
the name ot be claimed by this machine" where XXXXX is the name of the
domain and yyy is the IP address of our AD controller. Note the spaces
after XXXXX.
One of the errors we are getting in the event log is the 8003 related to the
master browser service, but we haven't gotten it in more than 10 reboots.
I am also getting Service Control Manager 7024 error "The Computer Browser
Service terminated with service specific error 2550.
Anyone have any idea what's going on and how to fix it?
