    The client only appends DNS suffixes to the host name if they are configured
    for the adapter. Sometimes this is hard-coded on the client, but usually
    this is set by your DHCP address lease. I don't have access right now, and
    I can't remember for sure if you can get VPN servers to pass through the DNS
    suffix to the clients or not.

    Have you tried adding the DNS suffix to the client's VPN connectoid? Under
    the advanced TCP/IP settings there is a field for the DNS suffix.
