Fully qualified to resolve??

Not sure if this is a problem, but it is somewhat
irritating. I have both windows and unix hosts on my
network. I have server 2003 for dns with dynamic update
enabled. I have dynamicly created host entries in dns for
my windows clients and static entries for my unix
clients.
I have two zones:
company.com, which has static entries and..
corp.company.com which has dynamic entries...
The issue is that i need to enter the FQDN for my unix
hosts to resolve them. I can resolve windows systems
using only the hostname. I would like to be able to
resolve everything using only the hostname.
