Registered ISP Domain using same name as local DNS / DC

I need help.

A few months ago, I setup a WinSrv03 server using Active
Directory as a Domain Controller and DNS server. The
domain name and thus domain controller name is
say 'companyname.com'. Recently, I created and
registered a domain name through Yahoo Small Business
servers as 'companyname.com' as well. I created a
website and uploaded it and can see it fine everywhere
except from within the internal office network which I
installed earlier. When we try to view the external web
site, we get the error "the page cannot be displayed".
Evidently, the local DNS server is attempting to find the
website locally on the local server and not forwarding the
request to the internet. I ask around and discovered I
really should have two domains with the same name. They
may get confused.

What can I do to allow the client PCs on the internal
network to view the external website? I was thinking I
had 2 options.

A.) Create and register another internet domain name and
cancel the old one. Move the website to the new internet
domain.

or

B.) Change the Domain Controller / DNS names of the our
local server to something like 'office.companyname.com'

I like B. because it is the way Microsoft recommends
planning the name spaces and domain tree. And, it's
cheaper. The trouble is, I can't figure out how to change
both the Domain Controller and DNS or which to do first.
I found info on how to change the Domain Controller name
under Active Directory, but it did not create subdomain
called 'office'. I just renamed the domain server
to "srvname.office.companyname.com" It still
had 'companyname.com' as the only displayed domain under
administrator after reboots. I was hoping the DNS & local
domain would change to 'office'.

Assuming I go with B.)

Q1.) Do I need to create a subdomain called 'office' under
companyname.com before I change the Domain Controller name
using netdom?

Q1B.) If so, how do I add a subdomain called 'office'
under 'companyname.com'.

Q2.) Assuming I successfully change the domain controller
name and DNS name to office.companyname.com, where the
local domain is now 'office' instead of 'companyname'.
What else will I have to do to the administer the local
PCs and users?
