Cheers for that pointer.
set up a stub zone on my test bind server of company.ad, pointing to the win
2k3 server that's running the DNS for the AD. Did an up grade and lo, it did
work. The server being upgraded found the company.ad domian and added it's
zones.
But, small problem i may have missed. Gettnig an Event ID 800 on the server
running DNS for AD.
Get this:
The zone company.ad is configured to accept updates but the A record for
the primary server in the zone's SOA record is not available on this DNS
server. This may indicate a configuration problem. If the address of the
primary server for the zone cannot be resolved DNS clients will be unable
to locate a server to accept updates for this zone. This will cause DNS
clients to be unable to perform DNS updates.
Which server do i add the A record to?
TIA
(slowly getting my head round DNS and it's quirks)
