It's OK, It was already late in night here when I posted last reply.
So saw your replies this morning.
Seems you have not yet loaded diag. tools from win 2003 CD.
Load it as under ..
Insert win 2003 CD.. When it ask to install win 2003 click on No.
Click on Perform Additional Task and then click on browse this CD.
Go to Support\Tools folder. Double click on suptool.msi to install
the support tools. After done reboot the machine.
Now you can run dnscmd and disable EDNS.
1. You can be on a workgroup, no problem and better if you don't need
a domain controller. domain controller will need additional configuration.
2. What NS server name you have given to the domain registrar while
making your registered domain to point to your IP 68.55.54.3
e.g. say it is ns1.yourdomain.com then give your server name as ns1
(You will need to reboot the machine after computer name change.)
3. Open DNS Manager, there on your server name, right click and
chose properties. On forwarders tab, enter the IP addresses of
your router (I think it also runs DNS since earlier your DNS server
setting was the router IP address.) and one or two of your ISP's DNS
server.
4. Right Click on folder forward lookup zone, select new zone, select
type Primary. Give zone name exactly as your registered domain, click
next..next..till it is done.
5. New zone yourdomain.com will appear under forward lookup zone folder.
Right click on it, select new HOT A, don't enter any Host or child name,
it will be already showing your domain name under FQDN..leave it as it is,
under IP address, enter the IP address of the server - 192.168.2.6
Click on OK.
Now you can view your web pages by giving url http://yourdomain.com
6. Do same as in 5 above, but this time give the Host or child name
as www , under FQDN it will then show www.yourdomain.com , under
IP address again give server ip address click on ok.
Now you can view your web pages also by giving your
http://www.yourdomain.com
7. If you are running a mail server then do as follows
a) Do same as in step 6 above only give the Host or child name as 'mail'
instead of www.
b) Right click on zone yourdomain.com, select new Mail Exchanger (MX),
leave host or child name blank, under FQDN of mail server enter
'mail.yourdomain.com'.
click on OK.
c) Open ports 25 and 110 on the router and forward them to 192.168.2.6.
Hope this helps
If any further problems after doing as above, please inform your registered
domain name
and leave your server running.
