Ah, I see you've asked the question over in the virtual Server forum. I'll
stop responding to this thread hear since it's really off topic.

Thank you very much. I use MS virtual server to setup cluster. I use
VMRCplus
to manage virtual server. Now I got a trouble that I cannot change scsi ID
to
different value, e.g. when I click adapter button, check share disk
button,
the system gave me a value like 7, then I change it to 6, click ok. But
when
I came back to it, I found the value still to 7, wasn't changed. Sometime
even the share disk check button couldn't be changed, e.g. I click that
check, click ok, then came back to see, it wasn't changed. I guess that is
the issue becasue I use same scsi id. How can overcome it? does that
VMRCplus
have bug or patch? Could you give some tips on how to handle it? Thanks.

I'm assuming your using some sort of virtualization software on your
laptop
to create the 2 nodes. I've successfully set up 2-node clusters using
VMWare
server 1.5 and Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1. Depending on what
your
using you need to setup the quorum and other clustered drives as shared
drives. In Microsoft virtual Server it's just a matter of using the SCSI
adapters and then click the checkbox for Share SCSI bus for clustering
and
ensure the different nodes are using different IDs for the SCSI adapter.
VMWare required editing some configuration files in order to share the
quorum and other shared disks.
You might want to look in the Virtal Server and Virtual PC forums for
help
as well, I know I've put links to the Microsoft Howtos in various
responses
on there.

Let us know if my assumption was wrong on what your using to create the
nodes. I might be able to dig up the instructions for setting up the
clusters on the VMWare Server software. (Note: I like the VMWare Server
software because it's free and runs on top of windows, the same as
Microsoft
Virtual PC and Virtual Server.) I'm currently using the Microsoft Virtual
Server in my test lab, and getting ready to roll some VMs out to
production)

Hi guys,
I am building a test cluster with two virtual servers as two nodes in
my
desktop. I got a trouble that the quorum shared disk has a problem that
can
not be used for two server in the same time. when I started node1
server,
the
node2 server cannot see the quorum shared disk, it is unreadable and
unknow
status from disk management. If I shut down node1 and refresh disk
management
in node2, then it become normal. But it go to unreadable and unknow
status
if I restart node1. I setup quorum shared disk in vmrcplus following
the
document. Can anybody knows why it like this and how can fix it?
Thanks.
