We are going to setup a split site cluster for DHCP. I planned to use local disks on the server and use a replication software.

Why? Why not just use two servers that run DHCP and split the scope?

The cluster type will be node majority and file share.

Can the disks be in the local server? Ie a local hard disk? Ive tried setting it up with a partition of the system disk and it dont work. Then I read somewhere it must be a seperate physical disk. Is this true?

Yes. It will require a physical disk resource which means that you need to build a multi-site cluster with two different disk structures where a 3rd party vendor or process is responsible for replication and locking for the two disks between the two sites.

My lab is just standard desktop PC's. If I get another physical hard disk and put it in will it see that as valid storage??

No.

What are the requirements for using local hard disk?

You can't unless there is special application support, i.e. CCR for Exchange, or you have a 3rd party vendor solution.

Also im currently setup on teh same subnet due to waiting for a router. Does this change the disk requirements? Does it allow you to chose local storage when the cluster detects multiple subnets?

No.
