I'm new to clustering and I've been reading thru the differentdocumentation
and step by step how to guides. Here's what I'm trying to do:DFS
Setup Clustering with 2 servers that do not share a common storage, they
each have their own individual local storage. I was thinking about using
to automatically replicate any changes to the files.that?
The documentation talks about creating a quorum disk. Do I need to do
How would this work if I don't share a common storage?
You must have shared storage unless you have an application which takes care
of the replication (such as Exchange CCR clustering)
Besides Exchange I do not know of any other application which does this, so
you need
1) 2 servers + Enterprise Edition OS
2) Shared storage (FC, iSCSI, SAS), if Windows 2003 then you can still use a
shared SCSI bus as well
3) HBA's / NIC's / switches and other infrastructure components
4) if Windows 2003, all must be on the Windows Catalog, if Windows 2008 it
must pass "Validate"
Unfortunately without shared storage you will not be able to cluster.
In regards to DFS, DFS is not a supported replication method for multi-site
clustering
