Hi Alan,
Is the virtual machine name or one of the physical server in the cluster?

from all machines with admin access to the remote machine (admin on both
nodes for the cluster case) normal admin on stand alone servers
Start
Run
\\remotemachinename
Open the Printers Folder
Add Printer
If you have Vista Ultimate, launch the print management tool
printmanagement.msc
add the remotemachinename
If you are familiar with clusters this is the ONLY way to add printers.
If
you are not familiar with clusters, AVOID adding printers using the nodes
as
the client machines
I do admit, some drivers require that you use the node to install.

the line with the yellow dot is the network share icon for print
shares.
If
you open the remote printers folder you will see the printer icon with
the
hand, this is the printer icon.
shares created on the nodes (file shares as well as printers) are
visible
on
virtual machine since the server service does not scope shares in
Server
2003. The server service on Server 2008 will scope shares so you can
not
view the shares created on the nodes in the context on the virtual
machine
You will need to create the printer remotely rather than in the
printers
folder of the local nodes.

Hi,
I have a active/passive window 2003 print cluster with about 350
queues. Lately, I used the same procedure to set up several new
queues
on the virtual server \\rplmsprn. My users could not map to the new
queue from \\rplmsprn. They got the error:
"window can not connect to the printer"
However, the mapping works if they used the real print server name
like
\\rplmsprn2 or \\rplmsprn1.
Also, I noticed that the new share print queues have a different
shared
icon
than the others 350 print queues. The new ones has a hand under.
The
old
ones have a line with a yellow dot in the middle. What does the
line
with
a
yellow dot in the middle means?
