You will need shared storage for your quorum disk to implement a proper cluster.

Hi

I would like to build custer for one of the file server in our organization
- i have 2 identiacal server like file server
- these 2 servers has 8 pc of 1 TB HDD slots with 3ware raid controller
where i have configured 2 HDD as system partition in mirror and rest 6 HDD as
RAID 5,
- All data is on RAID5 its common share with name Production P:\ which maps
to all users using GPO script when they log on. and users has appropriate
permission on share to access, highly utilizing share in company.
- i wants to make cluster of this machine with identical server that i have
with same configuration
- i dont have any SCSI HDD for external data storage I can procure 1 small
for quorum only budgt is not much…
- and i have dell powervault 705N Network attached storage free 160 GB if I
can use ?
- data on main file server is 1.5 Terabyte and growing slowly….i am thinking
If this data can be replicated to 2nd node using third party software.. and
make same share name and since in cluster server ip is same and server name
too.. if active server fails… by just users loging off and loggin in will
this share work…as desired.. in this case data is on servers hdd only quorum
is on external small scsi..

can this be a good logic.. will this idea work…

please help ...

Thanks
Imran
