Re: Disk Ressource are pointin to different disks

John,
during the time when they wanted to bring this group online the
disk was presented to the cluster and not offline as it was most of the
time. They feared to bring this online because of the wrong entry in
GUI. Do you mean that when we cross-checked it with the cluster.exe it
should have pointed to right disk? Then this is only a GUI-Display
problem?

Best Regards
Olaf

The information in the greyed out section is not accurate when a disk is
offline. Before you go to great lengths by re-creating volumes, you should
look at the properties of the disk in the cluster registry or through
cluster.exe commands (cluster "disk name" /priv).

I'm guessing that you pretty much wasted time re-creating the disk and it
would've worked fine if you simply tried to bring the resource online.

Hi there,

did anybody run into the below described problem?

One of my customer has a 2-node Cluster W2K3 R2 x64 with several Oracle
Groups. One of this group was offline for several weeks due to not
needing this Database. When they now tried to bring this group online
they saw that the diskressources are pointing to C: (greyed out) and not
the original SAN-Volume. To get around this we recreated the whole disk
ressource pointing to the original volume without any problems. There is
no doubt that during this offline time there where several reboots of
both nodes, which went fine for the online groups. Also there where time
were these disk-ressources wasn't connected to the nodes. But they never
changed.

Does anyone have an idea what happened there?

Thanks in advance
Olaf
