I got a reply back from Dell/Microsoft they don't believe this is a broadcom
driver issue - they took the MPSreports from all nodes.

This is a later version that what I am running but I think the only
enhancements are is to be able to support Windows 2008.

Just waiting to see what they say.

My experience with Broadcom drivers is that you should be running the
latest and greatest. However, this does not necessarily include drivers
like BASP which implements functionality above and beyond basic network
connectivity.

In order to install the Dell Based Broadcom drivers you had to install
everything. There was no option to deselect this option. I will go
back and ask them.

If this is such a problem why does Broadcom even have this. There is
a newer version that was released since my first call was open, would
that be worth a try.

When you installed the BACS, there was a choice not to install BASP, but
I believe the default is to install it...so, it may be one of those
'click through the defaults scenarios'. I would contact the vendor to
be sure the procedures are correct before trying anything. It may be a
simple as using Add/Remove Programs and then modify the Broadcom
Management Programs and deselecting BASP...but do not quote me on that.

How does one get rid of the BASP? What impact does this have on the

What is BASP (Broadcom Advanced Server Program)?

BASP is a Broadcom intermediate software driver for Windows Server
2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, NetWare, and Linux that provides
load-balancing, fault-tolerance, and VLAN features. These features are
provided by creating teams (virtual adapters) that consist of multiple
NIC interfaces. A team can consist of one to eight NIC interfaces, and
each interface can be designated as primary or standby. All primary
interfaces in a team will participate in load-balancing operations by
sending and receiving a portion of the total traffic. Standby
interfaces will take over in the event that all primary interfaces
have lost their links. VLANs can be added to a team to allow multiple
VLANs with different VLAN IDs. A virtual adapter is created for each
VLAN added. Load-balancing and fault-tolerance features will work with
any third party's NIC adapters. VLANs only work with Broadcom NIC
adapters.

Event ID 1123 & 1122 happened with native Microsoft Windows 2003 R2
OS drivers on the cluster nodes, this happened from the start of this
cluster.

Then I proceed to have some other network issues - this is when Dell
Gold support realized that the drivers for the broadcom NIC were just
the native Microsoft windows 2003 R2 OS drivers, at this point Dell
Gold Support had me upgrade to the latest ones that they supported at
the time.

If I remove the Broadcom drivers then what will I use for NIC
drivers?

Since this is a production server shouldn't Dell/Microsoft/broadcom
be able to repro this in a lab environment. If indeed it is the
broadcom drivers causing this issue.

OK, so I reviewed the case which is owned by an Engineer on the team
here in NC. There is an outstanding request made for the removal of
a Broadcom driver and we are waiting for that to happen before
moving forward.

The failover only occurs when there is a 'true'
failure....so,
if
you
went through the article how did you investigate
the DPC
issues?
Those are the trickiest to, first, find, and then
address.
With
a
new
hot fix designed specifically for Exchange 2007
CCR, you can
actually
tune some parameters now that will help alleviate
the 1123
errors

I need some opinions on how to correct getting
Event ID 1123
and
Event ID 1122 on all cluster nodes every hour.
This is a
three
node cluster running Windows 2003 SP2 - Exchange
2007 Update

I went through all best practices and nothing
really stands
out
as
a misconfiguration on any of the nodes.
Installed the
latest
network drivers for the network cards.

The cluster hasn't been affected by this yet.

Looking for suggestions on this issue.
