In all situations use MBR basic disk on clusters

Only if you need a partition larger than 2TB then you can use GPT on a
cluster

Please note that there are disadvandtages to these larger volumes, one would
be the time it takes to run chkdsk. Once the "DirtyBit" has been set then
cluster will run a chkdsk prior to bringing it online, with very large
volumes this might result in "online-pending" status for your disk, and it
might take a long time to finish.

GPT disks also support up to 128 partitions rather than the 4 primary
partitions limited to MBR. Also, GPT keeps a backup of the partition
table at the end of the disk. Basically, MBR has been around for many
many many years, and GPT is it's updated twenty-first century
counterpart.

GPT will someday be the standard since it's not a Windows specific
spec
and EFI uses GPT style partition tables.

GPT is in comparison to MBR. A GPT disk can support larger than 2 TB
volumes where MBR can not.

A GPT disk can be basic or dynamic, just like an MBR disk can be
basic
or dynamic.
