Geographically Dispersed Cluster

Hi Folks,
I have a geographically dispersed active/passive cluster, lets say
SiteA(Primary) & SiteB(Backup), each with dedicated disk using NSI
GeoCluster to replicate changes between the two nodes.
We will be doing a disaster recovery test in the next several weeks, we will
bring down the links between the two sites.
I was looking for some insight on how I should handle my cluster nodes
during this exercise? Should I turn the passive node on standy before the
test, and once the test is completed take it off standyby?
Should I power down the passive node and bring it up once test is complete?
I hope I made things clear, thanks for any insight that you can provide.
Thanks
.
