I did it the first way you mention and did not get the error.

If you create the shared folder in cluster first, and then on the local
node, you get the message as screen shot enclosed

If you create the shared folder on the local node first, and then on the
cluster, you will not get an error

Still anyone out there who knows how NetShareAdd reacts when called to
create a shared folder on the node while a shared folder in another scope
already exists in a cluster ?

Do not see this behavior on my clusters....sorry.....no repro here.

In the attached snapshot...I have a local share called 'users' and an HA
share called 'users' online on LH-Node1 at the same time.
