I have seen that error before. Look at a your system date and time (not Time
Zone, but what it would be if you lived in England). Run kerbtray from the
resource kit and ensure your time is in sync with the domain. Next run
netdiag & netsh to make sure your computer account is solidly in the domain
and can contact everything it needs, WINS, DNS, Default Gateway, etc..

We had a nice working cluster on 2003 until someone applied several MS
patches, these have been removed but the error persists. (general
security patches)
When trying to start and share it goes off line after about 5- 20
seconds.. this happens on even new shares that are created (just a
simple shared directory)
The File Share resource 'sharename' has failed a status check. The
error code is 1240.
We ahve searched technet and google / group but cannot find a
reference error code 1240..
Can anyone tell me what The error code is 1240 is? If we know what it
ment we would have much better chance of finding the problem.
Ta for any suggestions in advance.
