real newbie question about server configuration

Hi

I hope this is the correct newsgroup, please can someone point me in
the right direction if not?

I have never set up windows load balancing before. I have two web
servers that I need to load balance. I understand that the servers
must be identical.

Currently the servers are:
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Service Pack 1
- Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition R2 Service Pack 1

Is this going to cause a problem, i.e. do they both need to be R2?

Also - the processor configurations are slightly different.

- Server 1 - 2 x single core Xeon 2.66 with HT - shows 4 processor
cores
- Server 2 - 1 x dual core Xeon 2 - shows 2 processor cores

How similar do the processor configurations need to be? Must they be
identical? Or can I just run with what I've got above? If not, would
disabling HT on the first server so they both show 2 cores be
sufficient?

Many thanks in advance for any advice,

Richard
