As far as I know the entire EMC line works great with 2008 (though you might
need updated firmware and drivers).

Do you know if using a Clariion for shared storage will work for Server
2008?
I works great for 2003.

Agreed that it used to work, but old technology has to be migrated at
some
point. 2008 is forcing hardware vendors and customers like you and I to
use
more current technology. When you recently bought from Dell they should
have
told you, it has been well known by them for at least a year now, if not
more.

Why was this changed from how Server 2003 worked? We've always used
this
configuration with 2000 and 2003 clusters and never had any issues.

Parallel Attached SCSI (PowerVault 220S) will never work with 2008.
You
need
hardware that supports SCSI 3 and Persistent Reservations, your
current
storage does not and needs to be completely replaced.

We just received a brand new Dell cluster to use with Server 2008.
The
hardware consists of two Dell 1950 Servers and one PowerVault 220S.
Each server is setup identically and the RAID has been configured
for
clustering. Only one server was on when I ran the test.
When I run the validation tool, everything passes except for the
shared
storage tests which fail at "List Potential Cluster Disks".
The report has this:
PhysicalDrive0 cdfa64e4 Bus Type RAID SCSI Port 2:3:0:0 DELL PERC
4e/DC
RAID
Controller False Disk bus type does not support clustering. Disk
partition
style is MBR. Disk partition type is BASIC.
PhysicalDrive1 cdfa64fb Bus Type RAID SCSI Port 2:3:1:0 DELL PERC
4e/DC
RAID
Controller False Disk bus type does not support clustering. Disk
partition
style is MBR. Disk partition type is BASIC.
