Re: Moving quorum to new drive

Yes, once you have completed the quorum disk move as Rod has outlined, you
should be able to modify the drive letter.

So you want to move to W. Then take Q out of the clusters and rename W to
be Q? Hmmm, I have never renamed a disk within clustering before. Since
the ID & GUID are contained within the cluster I don't beleive it will be
an issue.

says it simple :)

Thanks for the information! One more question - how does renaming the
drive
affect this? Old drive is Q:, new drive w:. I would like to keep Q:
after
things are said and done.

Thanks!
Travis

Its easy and you won't even take an outage for the Quorum move.

1) Add the SAN drive(s) into the cluster
2) Open Cluster Administrator -> right-click on your cluster name ->
properties
3) Click On the Quorum tab use the drop down to select the new SAN disk.
4) Click ok and you are done.

Note the old space will not be cleaned up or deleted from the disk.

I am running a 2003 cluster with the quorum on a shared phsical disk.
What
is the process for moving this to a new SAN drive? Are there any
"gotchas"?
I am a little concerned about the active node writing to the disk when
I
try
to move the files to the new disk and informing the cluster service
about
the
new drive letter? Should the cluster service be off line when this
work
is
done?

Thanks in advance,
Travis
