I would never automate any patches to a cluster. You need to test them first
in your lab. And plan the outage depending on which node(s) are active and
which are passive.

In an environment of many windows clusters, what is the best method to
roll
out security updates and other patches to a windows cluster? The cluster
types we have are: Exchange 2007 CCR, Exchange Shared Disk Quorum, and SQL
2005 SDQ.
I know the procedures that are required to apply the patches manually
(apply
to passive, then failover and apply to new passive), but what we'd like to
be
able to do is automate this proccess for common patches (OS Security
updates)
as we have appox 40 clusters.
I have and option of using IBM Tivoli to rollout the patches, or WSUS is
another option. Any insite on this would be appreciated, Thanks :-).
