Well, the connection can be an HBA using FC but it can also be iSCSI using an iSCSI controller or you can use a Gigabit NIC card.....depends on what you want...but, mapped drives will not work.
The big thing here is that your cluster solution must appear as a complete solution in the windows Server catalog -

I have been tasked with setting up a SAN along with Windows 2003 r2
Enterprise clustering. I have been doing alot of reading but one
question is still on my mind.
The cluster will require a Quarum, The EMC SAN that i have will be the
Quarum. But how will the Nodes connect to the SAN?? Do they all have
to have a HBA card installed? or is it as simple as mapping a drive??
