Server 1:
Physical Adapter 1:
VLAN1 Adapter: 192.168.0.1
VLAN2 Adapter: 10.0.0.1
Server 2:
Physical Adapter 1:
VLAN1 Adapter: 192.168.0.2
VLAN2 Adapter: 10.0.0.2
What I'm trying to set up is NLBS cluster with IP 10.0.0.10 on VLAN2. The problem is that after enabling NLBS on server 1 "VLAN2 Adapter" I lose all network connections on server 1.
Yep, you sure do. The IP and MAC are the new NLB one, not your old one.
When I'm trying to ping server 2 or router, I get response time out. Execution of "arp -a" shows table of IP addresses with invalid physical addresses.
Yep, you sure do. The IP and MAC are for the NLB interface and it will be different than the standard MAC for the NIC.
This same happens on server 2 when I enable NLBS there. It also happens, when NLBS is enabled only on one server at a time.
Yep, it should happen. This is the way NLB works.
I do not know much about VLANs, but I've noticed that on each server "VLAN1 Adapter" and "VLAN2 Adapter" share the same MAC address. After enabling NLBS on "VLAN2 Adapter", its MAC is changed to cluster MAC. This operation causes lost of network connectivity.
Your VLAN1 should not change unless you select the wrong NIC when you enable NLB
I've made an experiment: on server 1, I set up MAC address of "Physical Adapter 1" to NLBS cluster MAC, causing both "VLAN1 Adapter" and "VLAN2 Adapter" to share NLBS cluster MAC. It did work, besides server 1 was also visible as cluster host with IP 10.0.0.10. Of course when I did the same thing on Server 2, it caused MAC address conflict, since "VLAN1 Adapter" on both servers had the same MAC.
I'm using HP NC373i network adapters with the newest drivers.
My question is: is it possible to set NLBS in such configuration with VLANs and how?
Select the NIC (only one) from each computer (no teaming allowed), enable it for NLB; configure the cluster parameters the same for each one; configure the host parameters using their standard IP, mask, and so forth and make sure you use different priority numbers; add the cluster IP to the NIC in the advanced settings for TCP/IP; and you should see them converge.
