Re: SQL 2005 clustered virtual server

Does each resource group require its own quorum disk?

Does this mean I need a seperate disk for each instance of SQL? I have
heard something about mount points - what exactly is this and can I use this
instead?

I will have about 8-10 instances running on the cluster.

Thanks,
Neil Paddock.

Correct. Only one SQL instance per resource group. So, you will need to
create another resource group with some physical disks in it (at least one)
and then select that group when you create your next instance.

Hi Chuck,

On your advice, I have successfully installed the first instance of sql
2005. When I go to install a second instance, when I get to the "Cluster
Group Selection" window, I get the message "Group 01 - Already contains a
SQL
Virtual Server"

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Neil Paddock

One for each instance will be created when SQL setup is run.

I am setting up a 2 node 2003 enterprise cluster. I need to install a
number
of SQL 2005 instances on to the cluster.

Do I need a virtual server for each instance or do I create one virtual
server which contains all instances of SQL 2005?

Many thanks,
Neil Paddock.
