Dear Edwin,

Thanks for the reply.
The only thing I don't understand is what the purpose is of a virtual
server .

I create a virtual server called marketing (\\marketing) with some
shares
and
a virtual server called accounting (\\accounting) with some shares.

If you can see all the shares when they are on one node;why making
different
virtual servers ?

I can make one virtual server called storage (\\storage) with all the
shares
of marketing and accounting.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see a reason why creating
different
virtual servers then because browsing to \\storage would give me the
same
effect.

Thanks for replying.

Maximising Performance is a reason,
Your \\marketing is on Node1, and your \\accounting on Node2, then you
have
spread the load in regards to CPU/Mem/Network/DiskIO between your two
nodes.
If you have a single \\storage, then all your share are serviced by one
node
only.
(Although you still have to spec your nodes, so they can take all
groups/shares, during "normal" operation you make optimum use of your
computing-resources available)

More importantly : Minimising Downtime is a reason,
\\marketing on Node1, \\accounting on Node2, and a failure occurs on
Node1,
only \\marketing is experiencing a (short) downtime when moving the
group to
Node2, while \\accounting is not affected at all.
If you have a single \\storage (say on Node1), and a failure occurs,
then
all your shares are affected and experiencing a (short) downtime when
moving
to the surviving node.

Rgds,
Edwin.
