Re: MSCS DR

EMC has GeoCluster solutions on the HCL. Please refer to Russ's post for
the link to the correct HCL

To quickly add to this post. We dont have this solution in place but we
are in the planning stage. EMC tell us that this is not possible and
that the DR SAN disks can only be presented to a server that is not
part of a cluster.

Thanks

Hi Chuck

Thanks for your repsonse.

How did you come to that conclusion?

I am not sure I understand your comment, please elaborate.

The kit is on the Windows HCL (EMC Clariion and Brocade) Is there a Geo
Cluster HCL, can you point me to it?

Thanks

AJ

The problem is that you do not appear to have an HCL GeoCluster
solution
which is implemented by 3rd Part vendors only. If you did have an HCL
GeoCLuster, then this would not be an issue.

I think your problem will be disk signatures. I am not an expert but
I
think
if you run dumpcfg.exe to document the current Disk signatures, then
modifiy
the new ones to match you should be OK.

Hello All

I am posting in this forum in hope that an MSCS expert can help me
out
here. I posted in the Exchange forum but didn't get the answers I
was
after so here goes:

Here is the scenario:

We have an Exchange 2003 cluster stretched across two locations in
an
Active/Passive configuration. Both cluster nodes talk to the primary
SAN array. The primary SAN is mirrored to the DR location using
Aysnc
replication (logs, stores and Quorom) and this is fully supported by
MS
at this point.

Here is the question:

In the event that we loose the primary site (A node and SAN) will I
be
able to present the DR SAN disk array to the node in the DR location
and bring the EVS up?

I am thinking that MSCS might see the DR disks as a new disk
resource
and will choke on this.

Any thoughts. I have been discussing this with the storage vendor
but
they cannot answer this question.

Thanks

AJ
