It should work with iSCSI.
You then need a second storage system at the other location and at least one
cluster node. Then you can mirror the storage and the cluster service can
fail over the VMs. Storage mirroring is transparent to the clients.

Thanks, that sounds great. Not sure if it supports our h/w though..
We have external Promise VTrak M500i disk chassis (about 10TB disk space -
15 slots of Seagate 750gb 3gb/s SATA2) with iSCSI connections to each
cluster node. (MS initiator) We do have 2gb fibre connecting our two
locations though which is a fast pipe.
Product does look interesting - will investigate.

Hi Graham,
ever thought about Campus Cluster?
At our costumer sites we have implemented several ones.
you can put one cluster node with a separate shared storage to your backup
location and mirror the shared storage with symantec storage foundation.
It works with dynamic disks in a cluster environment. So your virtual
disks
will be mirrored and the VMs will fail over automaticaly if a site failure
occurs.
You need to have network and storage connection between the location.

Licensing has been reviewed and is not the issue.
From Licensing Microsoft Server Products with Microsoft Virtual Server R2
and Other Virtual Machine Technologies December 2005
Each physical server has Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition
installed.
Each software license allows you to run, at any one time, one instance of
the server software in a physical OS environment and up to four instances
of
the server software in virtual OS environments on a particular server.

We would like to sync important VM dirs to an offsite Windows 2003 R2
Enterprise Edition server and are looking for a utility to do this in a
clustered environment.

You may want to consider first reviewing the licensing for this
configuration as it sounds like you may be in viiolation. While VS
2005
may be free, the licensing for the OS running inside it has
restrictions.

Hi all, we have a 3 node cluster running Win2003R2 64bit on each node
and
Virtual Server 2005R2.
Everything is running great but we'd like to replicate to an offsite
location for emergency useage. (we have about 10 VMs)
One idea was to sync the directorys with the VMs to another offsite
Win2003 server with VS2005.
When it was time to use the offsite environment, just add the VMs in
VS2005 and go. (this manual process is acceptable to us)
However, being a cluster, we'd need cluster aware replication
software,
or use a scheduled script to shutdown the VMs, then sync the VM dirs,
then fire back up the VMs.
Any thoughts on this?
Graham
