Absolute Agree,
My Personal Opinion :
- leave disk basic
- use diskpart to extend when needed
simple, managable and ... stable !
(after all, that is what it is all about with clustering)

Plus you can just use the diskpart utility to expand the disk.

how often do your SAN people "expand space" for your cluster ?
every week ? (--> that would be bad planning)
every month ? (--> still bad planning )
once a year ? (--> well... unless something unplanned happened ...
still...you shoud try to forecast at least one year)
once every two years ? (--> now that could be... )
(in brackets is my opinion)
its a balance between functionality on one side and added complexity on
the
other side
you are the only one making that call

Are there specific problems that you have seen with Veritas? Our SAN
people like it because it makes their job easier for expanding space,
but if it's going to cause problems then so far as I'm concerned it
doesn't make it worth the extra effort. Like you say, I'm not keen on
extra layers of complexity if they're not warranted.
