That will work but you will have to enable Kerberos on that Network Name
resource in oder to support software deployment packages that are hosted by
a cluster file share and deployed using AD Policies

I'm new to clustering and was hoping that somebody could advise.
I am currently running a data migration to a new file and print
cluster. I've come across a bit of a problem whereby software is
currently deployed to workstations using Active Directory GPO software
deployment. Unfortunately each package has been added in using the
netbios name of the existing file and print server and not a DFS name.
So I'm stuck with the problem of migrating the packages to the new file
and print cluster.
There is no way to change the Group Policy objects to reflect the new
package location so my latest plan is to migrate the rest of the data
so that I can decomission the old server. I then plan to create a
second Network Name resource which has the same name as the old file
server. This Network Name resource would be dependent upon the
existing IP Address resource. That way, the application packages
should still be accessible using the old UNC path.
Has anybody ever done this? Does it sound feasible?
