Re: 2 Node Network Load Balance - Duplicate NetBIOS Name

NLB is not supported for this type of configuration. After all, even if you
did get it to work, you would still need some method of synching between
nodes. There is no "split" write that writes to all members of an NLB
cluster
I'm using DFS for backend replication between the 2 servers. I suppose
I could just use DFS itself for load balancing. I believe it does a
type of round-robin for access.

I currently have 2 Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Sp1 Servers setup in
a Network Load Balanced cluster. When I try to map a drive or type
\\servername from Run, I get the following message:
You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network.
Go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try
again.
This is because your real computers' names are what are really used for SMB.
Both are configured using NLB Manager with the following:
VirServer.domain.local 10.5.5.4
NLB is not supported for this type of configuration. After all, even if you
did get it to work, you would still need some method of synching between
nodes. There is no "split" write that writes to all members of an NLB
cluster.
