Thanks for your help on this, after reading that article it's finally all
dropped into place and seems a little obvious now :o)
Thanks again both of you.

You should either team the nics using 3rd party software or change the IP..

Hi Chuck,use
I've already sorted this for the private interconnect, it's just the third
mixed network I need to sort. This is what I have so far:
Private: 10.0.1.x\255.0.0.0
Mixed 1: 139.184.194.x\255.255.254.0
Mixed 2: 139.184.194.x\???.???.???.???
The problem is what subnet to use for the "Mixed 2" adapter and what needs
to be done to use that subnet.
Thanks
Rob

Because cluster will not detect them as separate networks and will not
notone of them which put you in an unsupported configuration. This should
knowbe a problem with a crossover cable...just use one of the non-routable
classes.....and you will not need approval of anybody.
10.x.x.x\255.0.0.0
172.16.x.x\255.255.0.0
192.168.x.x\255.255.255.0

Thanks for this Chuck, I just found this info about two minutes ago..
typical! This must be what the problem is, as the adapters ar both
currently
set to use the same subnet. I told my network admin and he wants to
isn;'t mywhy
they need to be on seperate subnets, and asked do we need to provide a
subnet? I hope I'm asking the right question here as networking
instrong point and I know little about subnets.

Check your subnetting...the networks must be separate and distinct or
cluster will not recognize them. And, be sure the Onboard NIC(s) are
enabled...but that goes without saying :{>

I have a 2 node HP/Compaq DL380 ML500 Packaged cluster. Each node
usedthe
cluster has an onboard DUAL NIC and an additional PCI DUAL NIC. In
Windows I
have disabled one port on each of the PCI cards and configured the
rest.
The
second port on the onboard NIC has a crossover cable and is to be
mixedfor
the private interconnect. The second two NIC's are to be used as
(privatenetworks for redundancy. The problem I have is when I created the
cluster
the cluster administrator only sees port 2 of the onbaord NIC
interconnect) and the 1 port of the PCI NIC (mixed network).
Any ideas why the other onboard NIC has not been recognised?
The only thought that occured to me is that perhaps they should be
seperate
physical adapters as opposed to dual NIC's?
Any help greatly appreciated!
