Our current configuration is 3 HP DL380 Packaged Clusters at 2
different
sites running print services. We have 2 at one site since they are on
different networks. We also have 3 HP DL380 servers running single node
clusters installed on the same networks for a manual failover incase the
quorum drive fails or if our connection fails between locations we can
still
bring the resources online. We use scripts to backup the cluster
information
and printmig.exe to backup the printer settings. We take our printing
seriously. :)
I would guess so. Damn. That is about all I can say. <G>
I know that according to the documents that a multiple node cluster has
to be on the same subnet for failover purposes.
This is true.
With some brain storming
with a few guys we are wondering if we could create a MNS cluster and
create
multiple IP address resources and then have a script read the current
network
configuration of the host and select which IP address resource to bring
online. We would then have the script handle the DNS registration. I
know
that then we would have to wait for replication but we have that now with
our
manual failover procedures.
We won't be able to test for awhile until we can get some servers
built.
I'm just wondering if there is something that we are missing.
Yes. Printing requires a physical disk resource for the spool. MNS can't
help you with that requirement.
Thanks for any input, and I have no problem being told that I'm out of my
mind for thinking that this would work.
I think you are out of your mind for your current configuration. <G>
