Re: Quorum drive and Data Drive on the Shared Array

Planning is critical here. You can create a 1 GB LUN out of your mirror and
place the Quorum on it. With the rest of the mirror you can crave out a LUN
to store transaction logs, file share, pretty much anything you want.

When building an active/passive sql2k cluster (win2k3), should you:

a)create a phyical mirror just for the quorum (lots of wasted space)
b)create a 1gb(or so) logical from physical mirror

I assume b), and if so, what should or should not be placed on the
drive(s)
created on that same physical mirror but different LUN. I'd very much
appreciate reasons (performance/security) for your suggestions. In an
ideal
world, the physical mirror set would be just for the quorum but im sure no
one is throwing away this space in their sql server cluster environment.

i currently have 14 146gb disks available on an msa500 shared DAS dedicted
to the sql cluster.

Thanks!!

Is it ok to put SQL logs and Quorum logs on the same disk?

No, you should not do that.

SQL logs should always (just like Exchange logs) have their own physical
disk. This is a best practice.
