Hi Alan,
thank you for the reply..
I've recieved those hotfixes and installed them however they didn't solved
the problem. I aslo got one not yet published fix. After installing it I
didn't see Event id 40 anymore (publishing printer do AD) only eventid 9
(printer XXX was set) this solved a performance degradation fo 60% . Also I
was told by MS that this is normal behavior and they saw it already on 2000
when going from SP3 to SP4. Our cluster finished this procedure after two
days (400 printers) and since taht it's running ok. We also faced another
issue, about 40 printer disapeared - this was cause by fact that they were
set to use other then winprint processor. When the print processor settings
were changed for affected printers to use winprint they were back after
spooler restart. Settings were changed in registry under
HKLM\cluster\resources\<GUID_of_spooler_res>\parameters\printers
However after failover same thing happened, we lost 40 printers again and
the settings had to be changed once again. We are still searching for what
is causing this. At least I'm now aware of what is waiting for me when I
will insatll SP1 on our other print clusters.

Hi Seth,
that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I would like to know why it is
happening. My issue is not filling the event log, but the events them
self.

Hello,
after installation of SP1 on our 2003 two node print cluster, we have a
problem that it is constantly updating all printer informations in AD ,
we have a lot's of informations events in system log mostly Event ID 9,
40 from Print source. It's doing already for 36 hours and printing
performance is affected by this and users are complaining. There are
400 printers installed. Does anyone have experience with similar issue?
THank you
Martin
